‘Everything Chelsea needed’ – Arsenal fans react to Giroud’s beautiful assist for Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard jumps into the arms of Olivier Giroud after opening the scoring against West Brom

Olivier Giroud made his home debut for Chelsea on Monday night as the Blues crushed West Brom at Stamford Bridge.

A brace from Eden Hazard either side of Victor Moses’ strike was enough to secure victory for the champions as they recovered from a shaky start to dominate the Premier League’s bottom side.

Although Antonio Conte had ruled Alvaro Morata out of the tie, the Spanish striker was named on the bench for tonight’s game. In his absence, it was Giroud’s chance to show the Chelsea faithful just what he can do and he didn’t disappoint.

Having spent five and a half years on the north side of London with Arsenal, the Frenchman arrived at Chelsea for a fee of around £18m in January in order to accommodate the Gunners’ signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.

On Monday night, he showed Arsenal fans just what they were missing with his departure.

Giroud’s former club slumped to a 1-0 north London derby to Spurs at Wembley on Saturday, registering just a single shot on goal in the process with Alexandre Lacazette scuffing a late chance to level the scores.

Their pain was not made any easier by Giroud, who linked up with Chelsea playmaker Hazard beautifully in the 60 minutes he was on the pitch, even bagging an assist in the process. It was Giroud’s pass which helped break the deadlock as he completed one of his patented one-touch moves with his new teammate to send Hazard away.It didn’t take long for Arsenal fans to take to Twitter to lament the loss of the handsome Frenchman to one of their most bitter rivals.
