(AA) – Turkey’s Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz met Wednesday with his Qatari counterpart in Doha to discuss ways to further enhance close military ties between the two countries, a diplomatic source said.

Yilmaz met Qatar’s Defense Minister Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah to discuss cooperation in the military field, including the agreements on military training. The two countries had signed an agreement related to the defense industry that involved technical and scientific cooperation in 2011, which came into effect in 2014, the source added.

The two sides also discussed the regional situation apart from the importance of bilateral relations and improving infrastructure.

Yilmaz later also discussed bilateral ties with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
