(AA) – Three students have lost their lives after the collapse of a building in northeastern China where their kindergarten was located, according to local media Sunday.
The incident occurred at a privately-owned kindergarten in Hebei province at around 04.15 p.m. (08.15 a.m. GMT) Saturday, state news agency Xinhua reported, citing Yongqing county’s government.
The three children who died in hospital had sustained serious injuries in the collapse, following which police detained staff in charge of the kindergarten.
Meanwhile, three other students – one with minor wounds and two suffering from shock – were also receiving treatment.
An investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
Last week, five teenage girls were crushed to death after a wall collapsed at a privately-run junior high school in eastern China’s Anhui province.
