(AA) – Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi is expected to visit Jordan on Thursday for talks with King Abdullah II, a Jordanian diplomatic source has said.
“Al-Sisi will meet King Abdullah II for talks on regional developments, topped by counter-terrorism and the Palestinian cause,” the source told The Anadolu Agency.
Neither Egyptian nor Jordanian authorities have confirmed the visit.
The visit will be the first by al-Sisi since he was elected president in May.
Last month, the Jordanian monarch visited Cairo ahead of his visit to the United States and called on U.S. officials to provide support for Egyptian authorities.
Jordan was among the first Arab countries that supported last year’s ouster by the military of elected president Mohamed Morsi.
