(AA) – Besiktas drew against league underdogs Balikesirspor 2-2 in Turkish top division Spor Toto Super League at Osmanli Stadium, Ankara on Sunday.
In the 34th minute, Besiktas winger Gokhan Tore crossed from right. Balikesirspor player Aykut Ceviker handballed in the box, which sent the referee pointing the spot. Besiktas striker Demba Ba scored from the penalty kick: 1-0.
In the second half, visitors Balikesirspor winger Ermin Zec equalized, putting the ball into the empty net in the 50th minute. Three minutes later Besiktas fullback Daniel Opare helped Black Eagles take the lead once again. Getting the ball in byline, Opare finished with his right foot insid the box: 2-1.
Besiktas’ Gokhan Tore brought down Berkan Emir in the area in the 82nd minute. The referee awarded Balikesirspor the penalty, and Venezuelan midfielder Ronald Vargas capitalized: 2-2.
Besiktas’ Colombian center back Pedro Franco was sent off after Balikesirspor Turkish forward Sercan Yildirim in injury time. Franco was the last man. Besiktas were obliged to play with 10 men.
Near the end of the game Balikesirspor midfielder Vargas’ free kick rattled the crossbar. Visitors missed the winning goal in the nick of time.
As of matchday 22, Galatasaray are leading with 51 points. Besiktas coming in second place raised their points to 48 after the draw in Ankara. Meanwhile Fenerbahce are in third spot with 47 points.
