(AA) –  The British pilot of the Formula 1 Mercedes car, Lewis Hamilton, was crowned the Bahrain Grand Prix winner Sunday.

Hamilton won his third Grand Prix of the season at the Bahrain International Circuit in the Sakhir Desert with 1:35:05.809 degree. The victory in Bahrain is Hamilton’s 36th championship in his career.

Meanwhile, Ferrari’s Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen came in second; he was 3.3 seconds behind Hamilton. 

Mercedes’ German driver Nico Rosberg came in third place.

Hamilton has raised his points to 93 in the drivers’ standings. Rosberg follows him with 66 points and Sebastian Vettel is in third spot with 65 points.

The upcoming race, Spanish Grand Prix, will be held on May 10.
