(AA) – Three people, including a current NBA player, were stabbed outside a New York nightclub early Wednesday.

Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland and two women were stabbed while leaving the 1 Oak nightclub in the Chelsea neighborhood, according to NBC News said.

The network said Copeland and one of the women were arguing outside the club when an attacker interfered. The 22-year-old suspect pulled out a knife and attacked the victims, including another woman at the scene.

“We are aware that Chris Copeland was injured early this morning in New York City,” Pacers’ president, Larry Bird, said via Twitter. “Our thoughts are with Chris and those injured.”

The injured were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, local media said. The attacker, whose name has not been released, was arrested.

Meanwhile, two other NBA players were taken into custody for preventing law enforcement officers from setting up a crime scene outside the club.

The New York Daily News said Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha of the Atlanta Hawks were arrested on charges of obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct.

Both have been released from custody.

The Pacers are in the city scheduled to play the New York Knicks on Wednesday night while the Hawks arrived for a matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, also Wednesday night.
