(AA) – Egyptian Rabaa TV, with studios in Turkey, was taken off air by Jordan-based Noorsat satellite service for allegedly “inciting violence.”
“Rabaa TV is shocked by the decision,” the channel said in a statement on its official Facebook page late on Thursday. “This decision goes against freedom of the press.”
Noorsat has yet to make a statement on the issue.
“(Rabaa TV) has upheld professional standards during the past period, never promoting violence like the channels that support the military coup,” the statement said.
“The decision to shut the channel down is a political decision that has nothing to do with media professionalism or ethics.”
