Hot on the heels of Kit Harington’s tantalizing new clues about Jon Snow, another behind-the-scenes Game of Thrones plot twist has surfaced that deserves your attention, especially if you have dual citizenship to Westeros and Downton Abbey.
James Faulkner, the English actor who recently played Downton Abbey’s Lord Sinderby, has been recruited by Game of Thrones, reports Watchers on the Wall. According to the write-up, the actor who excels at intimidation and stone-cold parenting will play Lord Randyll Tarly, the father of the lovely Samwell Tarly (John Bradley), in the HBO drama’s sixth season.
On this past season of Downton Abbey, Faulkner played Rose’s father-in-law, whose disapproving tune changed once a skeleton in his closet surfaced.
In other Game of Thrones casting news, Watchers on the Wall adds that Olivier Award-winning actress Samantha Spiro will join Faulkner as Sam’s dear mother. And Rebecca Benson, who appears in the Michael Fassbender film adaptation of Macbeth, rounds out the Tarly family as Sam’s sister.
