Arsenal got back on track with a 2-0 victory over AC Milan – but Danny Welbeck didn’t have the best of games at San Siro. The 27-year-old is leading Arsenal’s front line in the Europa League as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ineligible, while Alexandre Lacazette is sidelined after undergoing knee surgery last month. Goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey secured a vital victory for Arsene Wenger’s side on Thursday evening, while Welbeck provided a funny moment for Arsenal fans as his scuffed shot went viral on social media. But it was another one of Welbeck’s missed chances which caught Ozil’s attention. In the second half, the forward had a one-on-one opportunity with Gianluigi Donnarumma but AC Milan goalkeeper managed to get the ball to rebound off Welbeck and out for a goal-kick.
One Arsenal fan account on Instagram claimed that had the ball gone in, the goal would have summed up Welbeck’s career. The post, which was liked by Ozil’s official Instagram account, also described the Arsenal striker as ‘Bambi on ice’. Welbeck will have the chance to redeem himself next week as Arsenal host AC Milan in the second leg of their Europa League tie at the Emirates Stadium.
