Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s doctor makes huge claim as to why forward left Manchester United for LA Galaxy so abruptly

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic left Manchester United for LA Galaxy this March after a mutual decision was made between the club and the player to terminate his contract.

Many assumed his lack of first team football, following the £75million signing of Romelu Lukaku, and later, the acquisition of Alexis Sanchez was behind his decision to leave.

And this undoubtedly did play a part in Ibrahimovic – who is now 36 years old, and nearing the end of his career – departing Manchester for a new life in California.

But according to his doctor, it might not be the only reason. Interestingly, it seems the Swede wanted out when Manchester United failed in the Champions League.

The trophy has eluded the Swede over the years, and was won by Inter Milan the year after he left, and by Barcelona in the two years either side of his stint in Catalonia.

After Manchester United were beaten by Sevilla in the last-16 of the competition, Ibrahimovic allegedly decided it was time to move on.

“He liked Manchester United, he’s a hero before the injury. His idea was to see if we can go back and win more titles, especially the Champions League.“After United lost to Sevilla, I think his decision, in my opinion, was that maybe that was it. This is my feeling. United won’t be able to catch up with Manchester City in the Premier League either.

“Maybe they can win the FA Cup which is good but not as good as the Champions League. He did everything else pretty much, won every major thing. Unfortunately they lost to Sevilla.

“I think he would have stayed longer, but he didn’t tell me that.”
