Real Madrid are lining up a mega swap deal with Manchester United as they look to bring three stars from Old Trafford to Spain.

The Champions League holders have a long-standing interest in David De Gea and would be interested in two more of Jose Mourinho’s stars.

United are unlikely to entertain the prospect of negotiating with Madrid as they prioritise a new contract for De Gea – whose current contract expires next year but United have the option of extending it until 2020.

Paul Pogba’s uncertain future in Manchester has alerted the La Liga giants as well as Anthony Martial, who is also not assured of his place amongst the squad next season.

According to the Manchester Evening News , in return, Madrid hope offering three of their own squad will help sway United into doing business, earmarking a host of players the Premier League side have previously shown interest in.

Gareth Bale, who has long been a Red Devil’s target, could be the first name they look to swap as Los Blancos seek to get the Welshman off the wage bill.Bale’s stock in Madrid has dwindled after an injury-plagued season with the 28-year-old left out of the starting XI of their 3-0 win over Juventus in the Champions League quarter-finals.Mourinho’s side have also previously sought after former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric and German centre-mid Toni Kroos with the latter almost signed to United back in 2014 under David Moyes.

The two sides had fallen out after the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer in 2009, when Sir Alex Ferguson became so incensed by the Spaniards’ tactics he vowed he ‘wouldn’t sell that mob a virus’.

United bought Angel di Maria from Real in 2014 and the clubs were working on a deal involving goalkeepers De Ge and Keylor Navas until the swap collapsed on deadline day in Spain in 2015.

Last year, United dealt with Real for Alvaro Morata but could not come to an ‘economic agreement’ and ended talks after it emerged their principal number nine target Romelu Lukaku preferred to join United over Chelsea.
