The Nigeria Cricket Federation has confirmed 33 male teams and 25 female teams, totaling 58 teams across the six geo-political zones in the country for its fifth National U-17 Championship.
The competition commences with the zonal elimination in the boys and girls category from January 20 to 28.
Teams from different states will faceoff on a round-robin format to determine the zonal champions and also pick the team that will represent the zones at the national finals.
The national finals will follow from February 7 to 11 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Team South-South are the defending champions of the boys and girls categories, winning the title back-to-back in 2021 and 2022.
The NCF PwC championship started in 2018 and has produced a number of players for the men and women’s national teams.
Some of the names include Yellow Greens left-handed batter Prosper Useni, Ridwan Abdulkareem as well as Female Yellow Greens’ Lucky Piety, Peculiar Agboya, Sarah Etim among others.
