Japanese football legend Kazuyoshi Miura, also known as “King Kazu,” has shocked fans again by saying he wants to continue playing football until the age of 80.

The 58-year-old striker, who now plays for Atletico Suzuka, a fourth-tier team in Japan, made the bold statement on social media, saying:

“I’m going to be 60 in two years. When I see that I can’t do it anymore, I’ll stop. But I admit, I would love to continue until I’m 80.”

A Career Like No Other

Miura’s football journey began in 1986, long before many of today’s stars were even born. Over nearly 40 years, he has played in Brazil, Italy, Croatia, and of course, Japan. He has also scored 55 goals in 89 appearances for the Japanese national team and holds the record for the oldest goalscorer in J-League history, scoring in 2017 at 50 years and 14 days.

Atletico Suzuka, Miura’s current club, has recently been rebuilding after a scandal in Japan’s lower leagues. Miura’s arrival is seen as a sign of strength and a symbol of resilience and professionalism.

How Does He Keep Going?

Experts say Miura’s longevity is not just down to passion, but also serious training, discipline, and modern sports science. Research shows that with regular training and smart fitness routines, people can stay strong and healthy well into their later years. Miura’s routine likely includes cycling, swimming, resistance training, and careful injury prevention.

Doctors and fitness experts agree that more older athletes are staying active today, thanks to better diets, rest, and exercise plans. Miura is seen as a shining example of how far the human body can go with the right care.

Aiming for 80 – Dream or Reality?

Miura’s dream to play until 80 is unheard of in football. The legendary Stanley Matthews retired at 50 and held the record for decades. Miura has already smashed that barrier – and wants to go further.

While some fans are amazed by his dedication, others are surprised and even joke that a big European club like Chelsea should offer him a 12-year contract! On social media, he has been called “amazing for his age” and “a true legend”.

More Than Just Football

Even if Miura never reaches 80 on the pitch, his story is already inspiring millions. His determination shows that growing older doesn’t mean slowing down – and that with the right mindset, people can keep chasing their dreams no matter how old they are.

At Atletico Suzuka, the fans continue to cheer him on, not just for the goals he scores, but for the message he sends: age is just a number.

Kazuyoshi Miura isn’t just playing football – he’s proving that anything is possible.
