A Ghanaian beauty queen and actress, Abena Appiah, has got her eyes set on making a significant impact in the Nigerian film industry with her starring role in the soon-to-be-released film titled, ’On Different Grounds’, which is directed by popular filmmaker, Mildred Okwo.
Abena Appiah, who won the Miss Grand International beauty pageant in 2020, made history as the first Black woman and first Miss Grand USA to ever win the pageant. She, however, stated that her transition from pageantry to the silver screen has been remarkable, describing it as ‘an exciting new chapter’ in her career.
Abena, who currently resides in Los Angeles, United States of America, stated that she was thrilled to be part of such a dynamic and vibrant film industry. She added that she is looking forward to spending more time in Nigeria and Ghana, contributing to the growth of African cinema.
Other actors in the movie include Bob-Manuel Udokwu, Jennifer Eliogu, Nkem Owoh, Uche Montana; and Indian film star, Vineet Raina.
The film was produced by Nicole Ndigwe-Kalu, who, according to a statement sent to Saturday Beats, has left no stone unturned in ensuring its success. The statement added, “With a combination of compelling storytelling, stellar performances, and top-notch production values, the film is poised to captivate audiences both in Nigeria and internationally.
