Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called on foreign diplomats to encourage investors from their respective countries to explore opportunities in the state’s agricultural sector.

Speaking at a meeting with ambassadors in Abuja on Tuesday, Adeleke assured them that Osun had significantly addressed its infrastructure deficits and was now open for business.

The engagement was part of preparations for the state’s upcoming International Agricultural Exhibition and Agri-Business Conference slated for April in Osogbo.

Among the diplomats in attendance were ambassadors from Tunisia, Cuba, India, DR Congo, Kenya, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Portugal, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, and Zimbabwe.

Represented by Senator Lere Oyewunmi (Osun West), Adeleke stated that his administration was committed to creating a favourable business environment for investors, assuring them of a rewarding investment.

“Today, I am inviting your businessmen and women to come and invest in Osun State and Nigeria at large. I can assure them of a bountiful return on their investments,” he said.

The governor added that Osun state, as an agricultural hub in southwestern Nigeria, has a positive investment climate, high ease-of-doing-business ratings, and policies that promote agro-industrialisation.

“Osun is an agricultural hub of South Western Nigeria Our ease of doing business rating is high. Our investment climate is positive, and our state policies promote agro-industrialisation, among others. Our state has functioning free trade zones and we have tackled our infra deficits to a great extent. Osun is open for business.

“Agritech Nigeria Osun 2025 is an international meeting place for manufacturers, researchers, investors, academia, purchasers and decision-makers, representing both local and international interests. Our government is ready to provide incentives and support to ensure your investment thrives in my state”, he stressed.

In his remarks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar represented by the Director of Economy, Trade, and Investment at the ministry, Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi, reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to fostering international cooperation in agriculture.

“This meeting underscores the importance of leveraging diplomacy to attract investment, technology, and expertise that will enhance food security, promote agri-businesses, and drive sustainable economic development,” Akinremi said.

He urged diplomatic partners to explore the vast opportunities in Osun’s agri-business sector and collaborate on technology exchange, capacity building, and market expansion.
