Nigerian international goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye has parted ways with Hapoel Jerusalem after six years at the Israeli Premier League club, where he played 103 games.
The 24-year-old penned the club a moving farewell message on Tuesday, thanking them for their support and motivation through the years, but didn’t reveal his next destination.
“A big thank you to Hapoel Jerusalem for your support and motivation. The good six years with the club weren’t a waste. Thanks for encouraging me to keep striving for the best. You’ll forever remain in my heart,” wrote the shot stopper.
Adebayo joined Hapoel Jerusalem youth team in 2018 from the B-United Football Academy in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State and made his senior debut in August 2019 against Hapoel Rishon LeZion.
The following season, he helped his club to promotion to the Israeli Premier League with 19 clean sheets after they finished as runners-up in the Liga Leumit. Following promotion, he made his professional debut in August 2021, keeping a clean sheet in a 0–0 draw with Hapoel Nof HaGalil.
Adebayo, who played the 2019/2020 season on loan at Hapoel Katamon, making 33 appearances, represented Nigeria at the U17 and U20 levels before graduating to the senior team. He received his first call-up in June 2022 and made his Super Eagles debut on June 18, 2023, in a 3–2 win over Sierra Leone.
