National indoor and outdoor record holder in women’s high jump, Temitope Adeshina, failed to qualify for the women’s high jump final after finishing 19th in the overall standings.
Making her Olympics debut, Adeshina opened her competition by scaling the 1.83 m mark easily.
On her next height, at 1.88 m, she failed on her first attempt but got the job done on her second attempt.
At 1.92m, she missed all her attempts as her Paris 2024 Olympics adventure ended in the qualifying round.
The 25-year-old is the second Nigerian to compete in the high jump at the Olympics after Doreen Amata did at the 2008 and 2016 editions.
Adeshina is a two-time silver medallist at the African Championships (2022 and 2024) as well as a two-time national title winner.
She enjoyed a successful debut season in the United States’s National Collegiate Athletic Association, where she finished third in the women’s high jump as one of the best representatives of her school.
