Airtel Nigeria, one of the leading telecommunications operators, has donated N2m to the Sodiq Olayode family, who recently welcomed quadruplets that went undetected in prenatal scans.
The donation, which was presented at the family’s residence in Lagos, saw each of the four babies receive a cheque of N500,000.
According to a statement from the telco on Friday, the donation is in line with its corporate social responsibility and follows a pledge made on social media to support the young couple, who were surprised by the arrival of four babies.
The Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Carl Cruz, expressed the company’s delight in supporting the family as part of its longstanding commitment to corporate social responsibility and providing support to the vulnerable in Nigerian society.
“This gesture underscores the dedication of Airtel Nigeria to enriching lives and bringing joy to the communities we serve, especially through our CSR,” he remarked.
The Airtel CEO stated that the company recognises the financial challenges of raising multiple children of the same age in one family.
Cruz expressed hope that the donation will provide significant support to the Olayode family and inspire others to offer assistance where needed.
He further emphasised that the gesture demonstrated Airtel Nigeria’s commitment to enriching lives and bringing joy to the communities they serve, particularly through their corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Receiving the donation from Airtel on behalf of her husband, Sodiq, and the rest of the family, Abiodun Olayode expressed gratitude to Airtel Nigeria for the support.
“I would like to appreciate Airtel Nigeria for this kindness. You have stood in for us in this memorable phase of our lives, and I can boldly say that this donation will definitely go a long way in raising our children,” she said.
