The Entrant Legends ‘82 -87 set of St. Luke’s Junior Grammar School Bariga, Lagos, has called on the government and corporate organisations to invest in the infrastructural development of Lagos public schools.
Speaking while donating some sets of furniture; tables and chairs, and, a wireless printer, to the school, chairman of the set, Mr. Tunji Disu explained that the items were worth N2.7m.
Likewise, some sets of uniforms were donated by the 1999 set.
He said, “However, I wish that the government, the Ministry of Basic Education, local authorities, and other development partners should emulate this effort and put forward infrastructural development so that in a not-too-distant future the school will have an ambiance of a truly standard learning environment with her products becoming big-time players in the society.”
He added that the objective of the association was to promote a good and conducive learning environment for the children who are enrolled in the school.
Idris said, “Giving back to our Alma Mater is a pillar for our collective belonging- hence development. Our development initiative dates back a little while with the provision of white marker teaching boards and computers for the school’s use.
“The importance of targeted development cannot be overemphasised. We are committed to executing projects that will impact the school positively and give her a better outlook.
“The furniture provisioning project was embarked upon after seeing the deplorable conditions that the students undertake learning.”
He called on the Parents Teachers Association and teachers to make good use of the items, adding that the group would always come periodically to inspect the items.
“We strongly call on the PTA, head teacher, and teachers to protect these materials for the present and future generations. It is our wish that these chairs and tables stand the test of time and help boost academic performance in the school,” he said.”
