Anchor University, Ayobo, Lagos, has reiterated its commitment to shaping a transformative educational experience that integrates academic excellence, moral integrity, and spiritual growth.
Speaking at the press conference for the 4th and 5th Convocation Ceremonies, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele, outlined the institution’s mission to empower students to become leaders who will positively impact society.
He said, “The vision of Anchor University, as articulated by its founding father, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, is centred on providing holistic education. This includes raising God-fearing leaders, delivering world-class education, and fostering moral and spiritual development.
“The university aims to empower students to become change-makers in the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria and beyond.
“Our students are not just learning for personal success, but for the greater good of society.
“Our mission is to combine faith, learning, and service in shaping our students for impactful leadership in every sphere of life,” Professor Bandele said.
He added that at Anchor University, high moral values were integral to the educational experience, saying students were expected to demonstrate virtues such as dependability, discipline, diligence, and decency in both their academic and personal lives.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed that these virtues played a crucial role in the development of students and contributed to the enrichment of the university community at large.
In line with the university’s commitment to academic excellence, Bandele shared exciting news regarding the university’s recent academic expansion.
He said, “The National Universities Commission has approved the addition of Physiology and Software Engineering programs, following a successful resource assessment.”
Bandele extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students of the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 sessions.
He commended them for their hard work and perseverance and expressed gratitude to their parents and well-wishers.
A total of 262 students are graduating this year, with 106 from the 2022/2023 session and 160 from the 2023/2024 session.
He revealed that Anchor University has a zero-tolerance policy toward violations of university regulations. P
“The university is committed to maintaining academic integrity and order through the full enforcement of sanctions. The university’s handbook provides a comprehensive list of offenses and corresponding penalties, which are strictly upheld.”
While speaking on financial ventures and sustainability, he said, “To enhance the financial sustainability of the university, new ventures have been introduced, including a small-scale bakery and dry cleaning services for the university community. Additionally, the university’s guest house has undergone significant upgrades to compete among the best in the region.”
