The Vice-Chancellor, Anchor University, Lagos, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, has said discipline within the university system is an indispensable step to achieving the purpose of its establishment.
Speaking at the 2024 matriculation, Bandele added that discipline in the university system encompassed adherence to academic integrity and principles.
A total of 699 students participated in the matriculation.
He said, “Discipline within the university system is an indispensable step to achieving the purpose of its establishment. There must be searchlights on ethics. Discipline in the university system also encompasses adherence to academic integrity principles, which include honesty, fairness, and accountability in academic work. Universities typically have a code of conduct that outlines expectations for students’ behaviour both inside and outside of the classroom.”
He advised the students to demonstrate diligent labour, and strive for academic excellence by attending classes, participating actively in discussions, completing assignments on time, studying diligently, and preparing thoroughly for exams.
Bandele explained that the efforts of the Chancellor, Pastor William Kumuyi, at creating a university of global excellence had given the university a niche over other universities that started before AUL.
