Aston Villa are reportedly keen on landing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson on a season-long loan agreement.

The Villans started their Premier League campaign with a goalless draw against Newcastle United at Villa Park.

They were unconvincing in the final third, and Watkins was a spectator for large portions of the league encounter.

Villa require a good competitor alongside him after Marcus Rashford‘s exit, and they have identified Jackson as an option.

However, they can’t afford the reported £60 million asking price and prefer to sign him on loan with an option to purchase.

The Blues are not keen on such an agreement and they are expected to hold out for offers from elsewhere for the marksman.

If there are no suitable bids on the table, Jackson could be reintegrated into the squad after the summer transfer window.

Jackson has not ruled out staying with the Blues either despite the fact that his playing time could be drastically reduced.

The Senegalese star is the third-choice striker in the squad after the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer.
