Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union is one of the clubs tracking Nigerian midfielder, Ramon Azeez, PRIMANEWS Sports Extra reports.
Azeez who has been without a club since he left Granada in July 2021, is currently in Lithuania training with 10-time Lithuanian champions FK Zalgiris as he intensifies his search for a new club.
“There have been contacts for Azeez from the US and in Lithuania but we are considering all offers at hand for now,” a source close to the player revealed.
“There are offers from the MLS. He (Azeez) is a free player and we are not in a rush to just sign.”
Should he agree to join FK Žalgiris, he will follow the footsteps of his former teammate Ogenyi Onazi who had a brief stint at the club in 2021.
Azeez played every match for Nigeria’s U-17 team as they finished runners-up to Switzerland at the 2009 U-17 World Cup in Abuja where he was voted the third best player of the tournament.
He also captained the Flying Eagles side to a quarter-final finish at the 2011 World Cup in Colombia three years later and was a member of Nigeria’s squad to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil where he played the first game against Iran.
Azeez made 71 appearances in the Spanish La Liga playing for UD Almeria and Granada and played over one hundred matches in LaLiga 2.
The former Future Pro Academy prodigy also played for CD Lugo and Cartagena in Spain’s second division.
