Calvin Bassey scored his first Premier League goal of the season as Fulham secured a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage on Saturday, in a game that featured three Super Eagles stars, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The defender’s 62nd-minute header proved decisive, as he outjumped international teammate Ola Aina at the back post to nod home Raul Jimenez’s flick-on from a corner.

The match saw Bassey and Alex Iwobi line up for Fulham against Aina’s Forest, while Taiwo Awoniyi missed out due to the concussion and broken nose he suffered in midweek FA Cup action.

Fulham took the lead in the 15th minute through Emile Smith Rowe, who headed home Adama Traore’s cross after the winger had beaten Aina.

However, Chris Wood levelled for Forest eight minutes before half-time with a curled effort that deflected off Bassey.

The victory moves Fulham up to eighth place, now just five points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, while Forest’s grip on third place loosens to just three points above Pep Guardiola’s side.

Aina played the full 90 minutes for Forest but endured a difficult afternoon, being beaten for both Fulham goals.

Iwobi put in a solid shift before being replaced by Willian in the 90th minute, while Bassey completed the full game with his match-winning contribution.

The result marked Fulham’s first Premier League win at Craven Cottage in 2025, ending a run of four draws and a defeat at home since December 5.

Marco Silva’s side dominated proceedings with 24 shots, 10 on target, and an expected goals (xG) tally of 2.24, significantly higher than Forest’s attacking output.

The defeat halts Forest’s impressive recent run, having won eight of their previous 10 Premier League matches.

Their defensive record of conceding the third-fewest goals (27) and keeping a joint-league-high 10 clean sheets was also dented by Fulham’s attacking display.
