The Federal Government-owned digital infrastructure company, Galaxy Backbone, and the Bauchi State Government have signed an agreement to deploy digital infrastructure and ICT services across the state.

The company made this announcement in a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications at Galaxy Backbone, Chidi Okpala, on Wednesday.

The pact was formalised during a ceremony at the Bauchi State Government House, with the Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, Prof Ibrahim Adeyanju, and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Muhammed, signing the pact.

The partnership is designed to enhance connectivity, build ICT capacity, and improve governance and service delivery in the state, leveraging GBB’s data centre facilities in Abuja and Kano.

The Galaxy Backbone MD said, “This MOU underscores Galaxy Backbone’s commitment to supporting state governments in building resilient digital infrastructure and service ecosystems.

“Through this partnership, we aim to deliver cutting-edge IT services that will drive digital transformation and economic growth in Bauchi State.”

Muhammed expressed his optimism for the collaboration, noting, “This partnership with Galaxy Backbone marks a pivotal moment for Bauchi State.

“By leveraging advanced ICT infrastructure and expertise, we are poised to transform our state into a hub of digital innovation, ensuring efficient governance and improved service delivery for our citizens.”

The infrastructure firm noted that the collaboration aligns with its mission to extend its digital infrastructure footprint across Nigeria, providing state governments with the tools they need to thrive in the digital economy.

Recently, at a stakeholders’ forum in Lagos, Adeyanju underscored the pivotal role of scalable and resilient digital infrastructure in driving economic empowerment and inclusion across the African continent.

Delivering a presentation titled “Building Digital Infrastructure for a Sustainable Digital Economy”, Onoh conveyed Adeyanju’s vision for leveraging technology to redefine Africa’s economic landscape.

“Africa’s digital journey holds immense potential”, Adeyanju noted, “But achieving this requires robust, scalable, and sustainable infrastructure to unlock economic growth.”
