Former Manchester United star and president of Inter Miami, David Beckham, was among a host of English football legends who trooped out to Glasgow, Scotland, on Monday, to pay last respects at the funeral of Sir Alex Ferguson’s late wife, Lady Cathy.
The late matriarch’s service was held at St Andrew’s Cathedral in the heart of the city after she passed away earlier this month at the age of 84.
Cathy – nee Holding – met Alex in 1964 before they got married two years later.
They had a son Mark in 1968, followed by twins, Darren and Jason, in 1972.
She was supportive of her husband throughout his career at Old Trafford before he stepped down from his role and retired from football in 2013 to spend more time with her.
Beckham was joined at the funeral by a plethora of former United teammates such as Darren Fletcher, Gary Neville, Nicky Butt, Michael Carrick, Ji Sung Park, Bryan Robson and Steve Bruce.
Others included Scotland legend Kenny Dalglish, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers and ex-Rangers assistant Archie Knox, 76, among others.
The ex-United manager was spotted following his late wife’s coffin out of the cathedral before shaking his hands to show gratitude to officiating minister, Andrew McKenzie, who conducted the service.
