A FIVE-YEAR-OLD British boy has tragically died after falling into a swimming pool on holiday in Egypt.
Kelan Logan-Derench was said to have had a “tragic accident” while on his first trip abroad with his family.
Little Kelan, from Birmingham, died just a day after arriving in Egypt with his mum, Ciara, older sister and grandma.
He fell into a swimming pool – and nothing could be done to save him, Ciara’s friend Serena said.
His family was said to be “absolutely broken” by the tragedy.
Described as a “cheeky, mischievous, happy” little boy, pals have set up a fundraiser to bring his body home and pay for his funeral.
“Five-year-old Kelan Logan-Derench, from Sutton Coldfield, went on his first holiday abroad to Egypt on 24/11/2023 with his mum, elder sister and nan,” the GoFundMe says.
“Devastatingly only one day later Kelan had a tragic accident and fell into the swimming pool and heartbreakingly nothing could be done to save him and he sadly lost his life.
“Kelan was a cheeky, mischievous, happy little boy, he was a younger brother to Cienna and was about to become a big brother himself in February 2024.
“Kelan’s whole family are absolutely broken and we can only imagine the pain they are going through.
“The least we can do as friends of the family and as a community is to help them by offering some financial support so that they can bring Kelan home and give him the funeral he deserves.”
The appeal has raised more than £12,000 so far for Kelan’s family – with a £15,000 target.
Local councillor Richard Parkin said: “My deepest sympathies and condolences go out to Kelan’s mom, family and friends for their tragic loss.”
