BusinessChicken Republic opens new outlet at MMIA

Determined to expand its presence nationwide, Chicken Republic has opened a new branch at the arrival concourse of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
In a statement on Thursday, the company said that the outlet located at the arrival hall of the Lagos Airport prides itself on consistency, quality offerings, and great services.
The Director of Mirror Foods, at Chicken Republic franchisee, Mr Jide Onalaja, described Chicken Republic as a well-known brand and one of the leaders in the industry.
Onalaja said that the company had received a concession from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria to set up similar outlets in all the airports in Nigeria, starting with Lagos.
“It has about 300 outlets in Nigeria and Ghana as well; it is the biggest brand that was established in Nigeria and has grown to that extent.
“We are working on setting up branches in Canada and the United Kingdom as well. The meals are affordable. We are rolling this out in all airports across Nigeria but we are starting with Lagos
“Whatever you get here is the same in any Chicken Republic outlet. The standards are the same as those of the global standard. Instead of afresh with a new name, we went for a well-known brand, that is affordable and accepted by the majority,” Onalaja noted.
He further explained that with the new terminal opened, the management felt it was a good time to inject new blood into the airport.
“The idea is that in a place for receiving passengers, people come and receive people, and they want to have a place to eat. It is basically to enhance and contribute to the ambiance of this airport and to go with the brand that is well known, well accepted,” he concluded.
According to the latest food service data from Euromonitor International, a global market research provider, Chicken Republic has the highest sales value of N60.9bn among the quick service restaurants in Nigeria.
It was followed by Sweet Sensation and Mr Bigg with N4.58bn and N2.68bn sales value, respectively.
