Experts have called on stakeholders in the country’s creative industry in to embrace collaboration and innovation for the growth of the sector.
The call was made in Lagos during the recent TechFest, where industry leaders gathered to discuss into the challenges and opportunities in Nigeria’s burgeoning creative economy.
A panel consisting of the Chief Executive Officers of Chocolate City Music, Abuchi Ugwu;  Selar, Douglas Kendyson; the Senior Programme Manager at CcHub, Blessing Azubike;  and the Associate Consultant at Africa Practice, Ujunwa Umeokeke, discussing ‘Future of Nigeria’s Creative Economy: What are The Winning Strategies’,  highlighted the sector’s rapid growth and the need for collaborative efforts to ensure its sustained success.
Leading the call, Ugwu, emphasised the pivotal role of partnerships and innovative solutions in fostering the development of the creative economy.
He also stressed the importance of regulatory bodies and policymakers, understanding the industry’s nuances to support its growth effectively.
 “With meaningful partnerships and innovative conversations, we can devise solutions to enhance our creative economy,” Ugwu said.
He highlighted its transformative impact on Nigeria’s creative landscape, paving the way for expanded opportunities and global engagement.
 “With continued investment, strategic partnerships and a focus on innovation, Nigeria’s creative economy is poised for sustained success and continued contribution to the country’s economic prosperity,” he added.
The panellists agreed that collaboration among government, industry, education, and creatives was crucial to overcoming challenges like infrastructure deficits, inadequate regulation, and skills gaps hindering the industry’s full potential.
