Delta Air Lines highlighted its commitment to women’s sports as the sole airline sponsor of the 49th Ikoyi Club Ladies Open, a prestigious golf tournament celebrating talent, unity, and cultural heritage, with standout performances and inspiring achievements.

The 49th Ikoyi Club Ladies Open, a prestigious annual golf tournament, took place in Lagos, Nigeria, marking a significant milestone in women’s golf.

The event brought together an impressive assembly of talent, welcoming participants from 10 countries, including 50 professional golfers and a total of 150 female competitors. This gathering not only showcased the elite skills of women in sports but also celebrated the unity and camaraderie shared among golfers across borders.

The tournament’s highlight was the crowning of Kabaswake Peace from Uganda as the Gross Overall Winner, with an impressive score of 231 points. Her exceptional performance earned her the prestigious Delta Air Lines Premium Select return ticket from Lagos to the USA presented by Mary Gbobaniyi, Delta Air Lines’ Sales Manager, West Africa.

Kabaswake’s achievement not only showcased her remarkable golfing skills but also inspired all participants, embodying the competitive spirit that defines the Ikoyi Club Ladies Open. Delta also presented awards for notable achievements during the event, recognizing the Lady with the Longest Drive and the Lady Nearest to the Pin, among other distinctions.

The tournament culminated in a gala dinner that celebrated the achievements of all participants.

The 49th Ikoyi Club Ladies Open 2024 was a remarkable celebration of talent, sportsmanship, and cultural heritage.

The tournament not only provided a platform for exceptional golfers like Kabaswake Peace to shine but also exemplified the vital role of sponsorship and community support in fostering women’s sports. In a heartfelt note of gratitude, the Ladies’ Captain Fatumata Coker, acknowledged Delta Air Lines as the sole airline sponsor of the 49th Ikoyi Club Ladies Open 2024. “I want to express my sincere appreciation for Delta’s steadfast support of this year’s 49th Ladies Open Tournament, this partnership not only enhances the tournament’s stature but also demonstrates the airline’s commitment to empowering women in sports.”
