Enyimba FC held on to the top spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday evening after a 3-2 win over Bendel Insurance in Aba.

‘The People’s Elephant’ now have 11 points from five matches, keeping their place at the top of the table. Several other fixtures were postponed due to clubs taking part in continental competitions.

Insurance shocked the home crowd early, with Chinedu Nwosu scoring in the third minute. Enyimba hit back through Abiodun Joseph in the 18th minute, but Wisdom Udom restored Insurance’s lead on the hour mark.

The hosts showed resilience as Kalu Nweke scored from the penalty spot in the 66th minute before Chidera Michael netted the winner.

In other games, Shooting Stars defeated newly promoted Kun Khalifat 2-1, while Niger Tornadoes enjoyed a 4-2 victory over Ikorodu City. Nasarawa United won 2-1 away at Bayelsa United, and El Kanemi Warriors edged Warri Wolves 1-0.

Remo Stars, Rivers United, Kwara United, and Abia Warriors all had their matches postponed because of their continental engagements.
