A motor accident along the Akwanga-Abuja road has claimed the lives of an entire family of four.

The deceased were said to be returning to Abuja after spending the Christmas and New Year holidays in Makurdi on Saturday.

The victims include Victor Angbiandoo Tyohemba (37 years old) who was an accountant, his wife, Erdoo Stephanie and their two daughters, Agnes and Immaculate.

Victor’s elder brother, Emmanuel disclosed this during an interview with our correspondent on Tuesday.

Emmanuel stated, “It is with deep sadness and sorrow that the Family of Mr. Gabriel Mmem Tyohemba Ambe announces to the general public the tragic deaths of their beloved family members: Mr. Victor Angbiandoo Tyohemba (Husband), Mrs. Erdoo Stephanie Angbiandoo (Wife), Miss Agnes Ngohide Angbiandoo (Daughter), and Miss Immaculate Sesughter Angbiandoo, who all perished in a ghastly motor accident along the Akwanga-Abuja road while travelling back to Abuja.

“The tragic incident, which claimed their lives, took place on January 4, 2025, at Akwanga but was only confirmed on January 5, 2025.”

He noted that the bodies of the deceased were retrieved and interred at the family home in Igbor on January 6, 2025.

Recounting how he received the tragic news while travelling to Zaria, he said, “The family left Makurdi in a commercial vehicle on Saturday to Abuja while I also left on Sunday for my station in Zaria.

“Throughout Saturday, we didn’t hear from him. We tried his number and that of his wife, but neither connected. The following day, I tried again, but there was no response. I started contacting people to find out which park in Makurdi they boarded the vehicle to Abuja. Eventually, someone told me that a bus heading to Abuja on Saturday was involved in an accident.

“I later got the contact of the manager of the transport company, who confirmed the accident to me. I went to retrieve their bodies and brought them home to Igbor.”

He called on sympathisers to keep them in their prayers as they mourn the tragic and untimely loss of their loved ones.
