Annabelle, the daughter of former Nigerian sprinter, Olusoju Fasuba, is looking to set a new indoor club record across three age categories in the 60m indoors after winning her first senior title at the Sutcliffe Indoor 60’s and 60m hurdles event in London on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 13-year-old achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the race even while competing against U-23 athletes.

She won her first indoor 60m race in a time of 7.61 seconds before claiming victory in the final with a time of 7.65 seconds.

Annabelle’s father and former Nigerian sprinter and African record holder in the men’s 100m, Fasuba, couldn’t hide his joy after her latest feat.

“At just 13 years old, Annabelle Fasuba achieved a remarkable milestone by winning her first indoor 60m competition in 7.61 seconds, competing against under-23 athletes. She went on to secure victory in the finals with a time of 7.65 seconds, despite her spikes giving way shortly before the race,” Fasuba wrote on Facebook.

According to him, her time of 7.61 seconds will set a new record in the UK while she also becomes the number one U-15 female sprinter in the UK for the 2025 season.

“Her time of 7.61 seconds, once ratified, will establish a new club record across three age categories: under-15 (previously 8.11 seconds), under-17, and under-20 (both previously 7.90 seconds).

“This performance also positions Annabelle as the number one under-15 female sprinter in the UK for the 2025 season. An extraordinary start to the new season.”

Fasuba’s daughter began to gain prominence on the track earlier this year after setting two new UK records in the U-15 Girls 100m and 200m in one week in May.

She set two Devon County AA Track and Field Championships records in the 100m and 200m, being 0.02 seconds off her personal best, running a time of 12.11secs to win the event, and also swept the whole field in the 200m with a new personal best of 25.02secs, which is also the new championship record and the fastest ran on the day across all age categories for the event.

Her father, Fasuba won the African Championships title in 2004 and was also a member of the Nigerian team that won bronze in the 4 x 100 m relay at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
