The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has reiterated his commitment to eliminate barriers hindering a large scale of homeownership in the country.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony for the Renewed Hope Housing Delivery Portal held at ministry headquarters in Abuja recently, the minister disclosed that the government was ready to institute several policy initiatives to make it easier and more convenient for Nigerians to own their homes.
The Renewed Hope Housing Delivery Portal is expected to grant access to 100,000 houses across Nigeria.

The minister recalled that in December 2023, the ministry signed an MoU with a consortium of developers led by Continental Civil to deliver 100,000 housing units nationwide.
He noted the inaugurated platform was a key part of the partnership.
According to Dangiwa, the innovative platform provides an online, transparent, easy-to-use, integrated web-based application for the sale of homes under the ministry’s Renewed Hope Housing Programme.
He explained that the platform also integrated features that offered flexible payment options, including one-time payments and instalment plans, catering to different financial situations.
The minister said buyers could also apply for the release of up to 25 per cent of their retirement savings account balance for additional financial support
He said, “When we assumed duty, we promised to work in line with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to break all the barriers to homeownership for Nigerians.
“We also promised to facilitate and promote the creation of technological systems and private sector-led initiatives that will make it simpler, easier, and more convenient for Nigerians to own their homes.
“Today, we are gathered here to take yet another major step towards achieving that promise with the launch of the Renewed Hope Housing Platform.”
The minister added that the innovative platform was groundbreaking, providing an online, transparent, easy-to-use, integrated web-based application for the sale of homes under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme of the ministry.
“The platform has many benefits for homebuyers. It has a user-friendly interface to ensure that the journey to homeownership is smooth and straightforward. It ensures a seamless and secure registration process with identity verification, enabling potential homeowners to efficiently search for properties using various filters, ensuring they find homes that meet their specific needs,” he explained.
Dangiwa further charged all Nigerians to take advantage of the platform to apply for the houses, adding that “with the platform, you do not need to know anybody to own a home. It is transparent, and the criteria are open to all”.
Meanwhile, the government has pegged the price of a 1–3-bedroom flat located at Karsana, Abuja to cost between N22.5m and N65.5m.
It also offered different prices for custom-built houses and finished option houses.
For houses in Kano and Katsina States, the houses were priced between N9.1m and N12.6m.
