Fury warns Joshua against Dubois rematch

British boxer Tyson Fury has warned Anthony Joshua against a rematch with Daniel Dubois.

Fury and Joshua have a unique rivalry in the sport of boxing. The two British heavyweights have brought great drama and entertainment to the scene over the last decade or so. Both have been long-reigning champions, though have frustratingly never been able to arrange coming together in the ring.

Had Joshua managed to beat Daniel Dubois last year to become a three-time world heavyweight champion, he was expected to then face Fury if the Morecambe man was able to overcome Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch.

Both men lost – Joshua by emphatic stoppage in the fifth round, and Fury via points decision prompting his shock retirement from the sport.

With that fight off the table for now, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has made it clear that his top target is a rematch with IBF Champion ‘DDD.’ Dubois is most likely to move straight into an undisputed contest with Usyk, however, Hearn remains adamant that they could land the fight for this summer.

Speaking to The Stomping Ground, ‘The Gypsy King’ warned Joshua what would happen if he did enter the ring against Dubois again.

“No [he can’t win the rematch]. I don’t think he can. I don’t even think he will take a rematch.”

There had been plenty of hope that Fury and Joshua would still get together in the ring for a much-anticipated showdown, but while Fury remains retired that is off the cards.

If Dubois does indeed go the Usyk route, ‘AJ’ will be forced to look at the other top contenders to keep his activity up in the hope of a bigger fight towards the end of the year. Both Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel, who hold interim titles and are therefore first in line for title shots, are serious options.
