A German firm, Symrise, has opened a new facility in Lagos State, to consolidate its presence in Nigeria.
According to a statement from the firm, the facility was unveiled to the press in Lagos recently.
The company’s Senior Key Account Manager, (Taste, Nutrition and Health), Iyabo Ogunwole, said the new facility would help the company expand its operations within and around the West Coast.
She added that with the opening of the facility, which has a product development laboratory, the company would deepen collaborations with local firms to roll out products that would be of high quality and affordable.
She said, “We are here because Symrise just opened a new facility in Ikeja, and this facility is to support what we do within the West Coast, which is to promote our brands to the B2B end of the market and play in the space we were not playing before.”
On his part, Symrise Vice President Europe, Africa, Middle East (Scent, Care and Fragrance), Rene Hemeier, stated that the company’s partnership with local manufacturers placed a specific emphasis on formulating product designs that make them affordable, especially in light of the current state of the economy.
Hemeier noted, “We can only be successful if those products are affordable to the consumers. We are developing technologies for high-impact materials, which give flavour even at lower dosages. All these help to make our products more affordable.”
Symrise Vice President for Africa, Middle East, Turkey and Russia, (Taste, Nutrition and Health Division), Sofiane Berrahmoune, remarked that the new facility would help the company develop products with international standards.
Berrahmoune averred, “What we are doing is trying to have our products developed for the Nigerian market with Nigerian expertise. We are developing for the Nigerian market with Nigerians, through Nigerians in Nigeria.”
