Nigeria Premier Football League side, Ikorodu City FC, on Monday unveiled 12 new players to bolster the team for the remainder of the league season.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the unveiling ceremony was held at the club secretariat at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

The club’s Director of Media and Communications, Samuel Bamisebi, said the move to engage more players was in response to emerging needs of the team.

“With movements in the mid-season transfer window here and there, we have to register new players to see out the remainder of the 2024/2025 season with short and long-term contracts of players.

“We registered 12 new players to take part in the league for the remainder of the season.

“Seven, however, are newly signed players, while five are from the club’s academy,” he said.

NAN reports that the new players are: Wisdom Ubani, Manaseh Gideon, Oladimeji Dada, Victor Ejukah, Nasiru Suleiman, Pere Anderson and Sunday Raimi.

“The registered academy players are: Kammonke Willie, Sheu Agboola, Musa Malik, Joseph George and Chiemerie Ezeaka.

NAN reports that Ikorodu City FC defeated Kwara United FC 2-1 in the 2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 23 game played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Sunday.

The Lagos team fought back from a one-goal deficit to defeat the Afonja Warriors, who opened scoring in the 2nd minute as midfielder Junior Aimufua poked in the first goal.

Ikorodu City FC, playing with more vigour, struck in the 7th minute for the equaliser as Toyeeb Ajeyigbe slammed in the goal off a low cross from their dependable defender and captain, Waliu Ojetoye.

The team from Ikorodu then sealed victory in the 64th minute from a brilliant near post header by Shola Adelani to put the team in a jubilant mood.
