Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Monday, presented a proposed budget of ₦429,898,968,402.31 for the 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, focusing on education, job creation, infrastructure development, agriculture, and security.

Tagged the “Budget of Transformation”, the proposal represents a 37 per cent increase over the 2024 budget of ₦313.13 billion.

While presenting the budget, the governor stated that it aligns with his administration’s blueprint to transform the state and foster an enabling environment for growth and development.

Of the total budget, 39.9 per cent is allocated to recurrent expenditure, while capital expenditure accounts for 61 per cent.

“The significant allocation for capital projects underscores my administration’s commitment to infrastructure and human capital development.

“The 2024 budget has achieved a 46.7 per cent implementation rate so far, and mechanisms have been put in place to ensure improved budget performance in 2025,” he said.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Kizito Bonzena, commended the state government for its strides in improving security, education, human capital development, workers’ welfare, and infrastructure rehabilitation.

Bonzena rated the 2024 budget performance as fair and assured the governor of the Assembly’s commitment to a thorough yet expedited review and passage of the 2025 budget proposal.
