The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, on Monday, formally decorated 96 senior police officers recently promoted within the command.

A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, confirmed the ceremony, which took place at the Command Headquarters in Ilorin.

The statement noted that the promotions were in recognition of the officers’ hard work, dedication, and commitment to duty, emphasising the increased responsibility placed on them to ensure public safety and security in the state.

Congratulating the newly promoted officers, Olaiya stressed that their promotions came with heightened expectations. “To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said.

He urged the officers to uphold professionalism in combating crime and enhancing community relations, in line with international best practices.

Olaiya also expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, for prioritising the welfare of police officers.

“The Kwara Police Command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property. We also call on the public to continue supporting us in our fight against crime,” Olaiya added.
