Liverpool bid for Isak

Liverpool have been given the green light to approach Newcastle forward Alexander Isak and table a British transfer fee record of £135 million to sign the Swedish international striker. Despite signing Hugo Ekitike, the Anfield side also want to bring former Real Sociedad striker Isak to the club and are confident that an agreement can be reached.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are said to be in the race to sign Benjamin Sesko as a replacement for Isak, with the RB Leipzig forward desperate to move to England having seen a transfer to Arsenal fall through, with the Gunners opting to sign Viktor Gyokeres instead.

Liverpool have been informed that Isak wants to leave St James’ Park as the player believes that he can secure a move to Anfield before the start of the upcoming season.

Anfield representatives have been in contact with Newcastle’s board and whilst the Toon Army do not want to sell Isak, they may be forced to cash in on the Swede as Isak seeks a new challenge elsewhere.
