You know who probably didn’t care one bit that next season’s American Idol will be its last? Mariah Carey. The star singer was a judge during season 12 and only season 12—apparently for a reason. Carey called into Australia’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show and was asked if she’d participate in any kind of Idol reunion for the final year. “Hell no! Absolutely not. That was the worst experience of my life,” she said. But please, tell us how you really feel.
“I’m not going to get into what it was, but let’s just say I don’t think they had any intentions for us to have a good experience doing that show. Pitting two females against each other wasn’t cool,” she added, alluding to the drama between her and fellow one-year judge Nicki Minaj. “It should have been about the contestants instead of about some nonexistent feud that turned into even more ridiculousness. I would never want to be involved with it again. But everybody else did like it.”
Kyle Sandilands then mentioned his time working forAustralian Idol and noted how boring sitting in the studio was. “It’s so boring and so fake, I’m sorry,” Carey responded. “When I say it’s fake, I mean, I have to make up things to say about everybody. Half the time, the performances are good, you’ll just be like, ‘It was good. Ending it there was really good.’ “
So, Mariah: You’re saying there’s a chance you’ll return?
