Reality TV star and actor, Seyi Awolowo, has emphasised the need for better awareness and prioritisation of the mental health of male celebrities.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, he said, “I don’t think the mental health of male celebrities’ mental health is being prioritised, and I’m not sure what specific changes I’d like to see, because it depends on how the conversation is framed. But one thing I would advise is fairness—everyone should be able to give what they can take and take what they can give. There shouldn’t be a measure of who is more important or who shouldn’t be as important. Because already, there is an unfair imbalance on both divides and it will become an argument for days. I just want fairness in everything in the industry. There isn’t supposed to be favouritism as regard any particular gender”.

Asked how he keeps up with trends, Awolowo said, “I do what I can and leave the rest to God. Like they say, ‘When one person own start, na him another person own go stop’. Keeping up with a trend that is man-made will eventually exhaust anybody, whether mentally or emotionally. I do my best to stay true to myself.”

Speaking about his approach to social media, he said, “I just stay true to who I am, and I believe my fans will appreciate me for that. I am not about to live a façade to justify anyone’s perception of me. This is who I am, how I speak and how I live—there’s no skeleton in my closet.”
