THIS is the shocking moment a multi-million dollar superyacht caught on fire at a popular holiday destination.

The £14 million boat, called Atina, sunk just off Le Saline Beach in Oblia, Sardinia in Italy on Saturday morning where it was anchored.

Footage from the Olbia Coast Guard shows the luxury boast completely engulfed in flames and sinking while being doused with an extinguisher.

Onboard were 16 tourists from Turkey who managed to escape the blaze.

They were collected by firefighters and coastguards and there were no reported injuries.

The boat ended up on the seabed about 22ft deep.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation after the fire began in Atina’s engine compartment.

Among those on board was Serkan Borancili, who owned the 150 ft super yacht.

Borancili co-founded the troubled grocery delivery app Getir in 2015.

Local media said the clean-up operations were underway.

Gianluca D’Agostino, maritime director for northern Sardinia said that comprehensive monitoring was underway to prevent fuel spillage.

The yacht was carrying about 50,000 litres of fuel, but the Olbia Port Authority said no spills had been detected.

Atina was last sold in 2021 for more than £14m. It also won an award at the World Superyacht Awards in 2009.

It comes days after a luxurious yacht sank off the coast of Majorca on the weekend.

Five passengers on the ship were rescued but the yacht eventually fully sank by 5pm according to Euro Weekly News.

Bild reports the value of the ship to be £800,000.

Port Adriano in Calvia town sounded an emergency alert at around 10am as soon as they noticed the vessel starting to sink.

Europe’s Maritime Safety Agency sent a boat out immediately while cops made their way to the scene.

Passengers on the yacht included a German couple with their son.

Authorities say the inside of the luxury boat completely flooded as the boat started to sink.

It follows after another luxury superyacht began to sink after a crew member left a door open – causing water to flood on board.

The luxury 150ft vessel dubbed “Ethos” was carrying five wealthy tourists when it dramatically started tipping over as waves crashed into its side.

Sat just off the coast of Kefalonia, Greece, in the Paleokaravo Bay, the £180,000-a-week yacht was sent to a watery grave after the huge blunder.
