UDG Tenerife forward, Gift Monday, is basking in the euphoria of her current run in the Spanish women’s topflight, which has seen her score six goals in the last five games and moving to the third position on the goalscorers chart with 10 goals so far this season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Monday has been the driving force for Tenerife in the 2024/25 season, notching 10 goals plus three assists, contributing 50 per cent of the club’s 26 goals so far this season as they currently sit sixth with 29 points after 18 matches.

Her compatriot, Rinsola Babajide has also contributed seven goals.

The 23-year-old is playing her third season in Europe and this season has already been registered as her best so far.

She scored three goals in 19 games in her first season and doubled it in the following season in 26 games.

“Scoring 10 goals, I would say that I work so hard to get those goals,” Monday told Liga F.

“I appreciate my teammates because they are always pushing me to do better and get the goals. So, it’s not just me working hard, it’s also about the confidence my teammates and the coaching staff have in me.

“It’s a great feeling to be able to score and help my team win matches.”

Monday is currently third in the Liga F scoring chart, just four goals behind leader Ewa Pajor of Barcelona who has 14 goals.

Nigerian born Edna Imade who plays for Granada is second with 11 goals.

In her third season in the Spanish women’s topflight after moving from the Nigeria Women’s Football League, the 23-year-old feels she’s getting closer to her peak.

“Right now, I feel like one of the best players in the world because having to compete with some exceptional players from bigger clubs, I feel like I’m getting there gradually and I’m liking the process.”

Monday joined UDG Tenerife in 2022 on a three-year deal from FC Robo.

She recently extended her stay at the club until 2027.

The Falcons forward made a name for herself while playing for FC Robo Queens in the NWFL before featuring for Bayelsa Queens on loan as well.

In her last season in the NWFL, she guided Bayelsa Queens to the Nigerian women’s topflight league with 12 goals.

She earned a callup to the Super Falcons afterwards and was also part of the squad who finished fourth at the 2022 WAFCON in Morocco.
