A PREGNANT woman was killed alongside her mum in a car crash while on her way to hospital to give birth.
Physical education teacher Karolaine Vieira Palermo, 26, and her unborn baby died after the accident in Caceres, Brazil, on Wednesday, November 8.
The Onix car Karolaine was travelling in crashed with another vehicle after losing control in bad weather conditions, according to local media.
The driver allegedly crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the other car.
The Onix then split in half and part of it was thrown off the road along with one of the passengers, local media reports.
Karolaine’s mother, named as Ivonete Vieira Palermo, 49, was also in the car and died at the scene.
Karolaine was then taken to hospital where she lost the baby, before dying hours later.
Her husband was also in the car with them and suffered mild head trauma and fractures.
Local reports state that he is conscious but remains in hospital.
Karolaine’s cousin, Maria Julia Palermo, told local media: “We are destroyed, everyone said goodbye hoping they would come back with one more for our family – three ended up leaving.
“This child was very loved.”
Maria said that Karolaine had thrombophilia, a disease that increases the risk of forming blood clots and makes pregnancy difficult.
“Her dream was to be a mother,” she added.
“Before Theo, she had two miscarriages, until she was able to maintain the pregnancy, as she had thrombophilia.
“The pregnancy was very difficult, that’s why she took the risk by going to Cuiaba.”

“Super mum” Tassiane Dolenga lost control of her motorbike while practising daring jumps between ramps on November 7.
And a female influencer has also died after undergoing liposuction surgery.
Luana Andrade, 29, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and passed away on Tuesday, Brazilian hospital Sao Luiz confirmed.
