Nigeria’s communications satellite company, NIGCOMSAT Limited, said it will collaborate with healthcare startup, Betalife Health Service, to enhance blood supply management and broaden healthcare access across the country.
NIGCOMSAT Managing Director, Jane Egerton-Idehen, in a piece sighted by Sunday PUNCH, said the partnership seeks to utilise NIGCOMSAT’s satellite connectivity solutions alongside Betalife’s AI-driven blood bank platform to improve the availability of blood products in remote and rural areas.
Egerton-Idehen disclosed the partnership was part of NIGCOMSAT’s accelerator programme, which supports startups like Betalife that are driving innovation in critical sectors.
She wrote, “They are the link between the supply and demand of blood products. NIGCOMSAT, using our connectivity, ensures this happens no matter where the demand or supply is, ensuring inclusion so citizens in remote, rural areas can also access their blood bank services.”
Betalife’s platform aims to optimise blood inventory levels, streamline distribution logistics, and enhance donor engagement, addressing critical challenges in the healthcare sector.
“Their solution leverages artificial intelligence to revolutionise blood supply management in Africa. Think of it as a blood bank that can find you no matter where you are in the country.
“They provide timely access to blood products, a key element in reducing deaths in some scenarios,” Egerton-Idehen wrote.
