NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Renowned traditional musician, John Zuya, popularly known as John Mai Molo, has reportedly passed away after allegedly consuming a poisoned meal in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The singer, who had just returned from Lagos on October 16, 2025, after performing at several cultural events, was said to have suddenly fallen ill and collapsed shortly after eating the suspected food.

He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi, where doctors confirmed his death.

A fellow musician and close associate, Emma Wakili, confirmed Zuya’s death in a Facebook post, revealing that the traditional singer passed away around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

His body has since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for an autopsy as authorities continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.
