ReadManna Empowerment Initiative, the organiser of the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship for Students in Nigeria, has unveiled the Nigerian Team for the 2024 World Championship in Disneyland, Anaheim, California, USA on July 28-31, 2024.
In a statement, Founder, Mrs Edna Agusto, highlighted that the Championship, sponsored annually in Nigeria by Zenith Bank PLC, challenged students to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
These programs are vital productivity tools globally, and MOS certification enhances employability and facilitates advanced ICT training.
The MOSWC, fiercely contested by students in over 150 countries, has seen Nigeria consistently excel, securing top positions nearly every year. The 2024 national winners and their accompanying ICT teachers are set to represent Nigeria in the upcoming championship.
Excel 2019 – Olamiposi Ayoola Ajisafe, Faith Academy, Gowon Estate, Lagos, Lagos State – Achieved a perfect score of 1,000/1,000 in 13 minutes and 15 seconds.
Word 2019 – Gabari Rume, Grace High School, Gbagada, Lagos State – Scored 1,000/1,000 within 15 minutes and 29 seconds.
PowerPoint 2019 – Daniel Uzugbo, Faith Academy, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State – Attained a flawless 1,000/1,000 in just 10 minutes and 10 seconds.
Excel Office365 – Bolurinwa Fabuyi, City of Knowledge Academy, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State – Scored 980/1,000 in 13 minutes and 8 seconds.
Word Office365 – Arigbabu Oluwadamisola, Faith Academy, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State – Achieved a perfect score of 1,000/1,000 in 21 minutes and 30 seconds.
PowerPoint Office365 – Excel Chukwuemeka, Faith Academy, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State – Secured a flawless 1,000/1,000 in 16 minutes and 27 seconds.
Accompanying the students are two ICT teachers, ICT Teacher, Faith Academy, Ota, Ogun State – The instructor of the student with the highest score in the 2023 MOS Nigeria Competition, Mr Stephen Aimufua, and ICT Teacher, Louisville Girls High School, Ijebu-Itele, Ogun State – The teacher from the school with the largest number of certified students in the 2024 ReadManna Under13 Computing Fundamentals National Competition (Ages 8-13), Mr Omotayo Adeniyi.
The statement said that MOS Nigeria Competition, conducted by ReadManna, attracted entries from various regions and universities, culminating in the shortlisting of 126 students at the National Competition.
It added that ReadManna aimed to enhance digital literacy skills among Nigerian students, youths, and teachers, aligned with global standards, through competitions and conferences.
“They are authorised by Certiport Inc to conduct the MOSWC annually in Nigeria. The 2024 MOS Nigeria Competition, organised by ReadManna, took place from October 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024. Entries were received from secondary schools in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, and Kwara States, as well as the FCT. Additionally, three universities – Covenant University in Ota, Adeleke University in Ede, Osun State, and Top Faith University in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State – participated.
Following a rigorous selection process, 126 students were shortlisted at the National Competition held in Uyo, Ikorodu, Ijebu-Ode, Abuja, and Gbagada.
Only male students will compete at the 2024 MOS World Championship.

State performance breakdown; Akwa Ibom (one), FCT (eight), Lagos (16), Ogun (94), Osun (four), Oyo (three).
Congratulations to all the shortlisted students, their ICT teachers, schools, and parents.
