The Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, on Monday, announced the dissolution of the executive committee of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria, previously led by Israel Opayemi.

This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the institute’s Director of Public Relations, Stanley Ogadigo.

Ogadigo explained that the council decided to dissolve the excos after conducting a comprehensive review of PRCAN’s operations.

While stating that the move was done in accordance with the provisions of the law, he also cited issues such as tenure elongation and declining performance as well as the need to revitalise and reposition the association to align with the NIPR’s strategic objectives as the main reasons.

The NIPR has also announced the appointment of a Fellow of the institute and Founder/CEO of NECCI Consults, Nkechi Ali-Balogun, as the new Chairman of the Council Committee on Revitalisation of PRCAN, with a mandate to oversee the activities of PRCAN.

Ali-Balogun was saddled with the responsibility to conduct a free and fair election no later than April 30, 2025.

The statement partly read, “The PRCAN Revitalisation Committee, which was inaugurated today, has the following as members: Karibi George, Dr Ahmad Sajoh, Hajia Lami Tumaka, Chido Nwakanma and Mr Hassan Abdul.

“Others are Bolaji Okusaga, Adetola Odusote, Muyiwa Akintunde, Dr Sophia Horsfall, Mojisola Saka and Dr Dare Ogunyombo who will serve as Member/Secretary.

“The NIPR, in a letter to the immediate past president of PRCAN, Mr Israel Opayemi, dated 21st December 2024, appreciated him and requested his cooperation to ensure a seamless transition that is critical for the revitalisation of the association.”
